Two Sisters Vineyards

Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

Vaughan - August 7th, 2022 - This next vineyard that I am talking about needs no introduction. If you have ever been to Niagara-on-the-Lake, you have either visited or heard of Two Sisters Vineyards. I myself have been to the winery numerous times, however, today I am specifically alluding to my most recent visit.

This past June, my boyfriend’s family hosted their mom’s 60th birthday in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The two day trip included a visit to the Two Sisters Vineyards winery for dinner on a gorgeous, hot, Sunday evening. The tasting room itself was closed, but the patio restaurant was open and bustling with happy guests eating and drinking their hearts out (us included). The winery and patio sit on one of their four vineyards. I don’t know what it was - whether it was the venetian feel of the winery, the gorgeous pink sunset that particular evening, or the vibe created by a patio full of people - but I felt like I was on a vineyard in Florence. In terms of the dinner itself, the food was fantastic and the service was great. We also had wine from their vineyard and it was delicious. Important to note, however, the dinner was definitely pricey. Two Sisters Vineyards winery has sort of received a bad rap over the past few years - for being too mainstream and overpriced. But if they keep up with the quality I experienced that night, I think both the winery and the vineyards will be just fine.

The story of Two Sisters Vineyards began with their first vineyard planting in 2007. The vision was not only to create an exceptional vineyard, but an entire wine and culinary experience. Located in the heart of the Niagara River sub-appellation, the winery and vineyards span over 130 acres across this remarkable part of Ontario. Planted varietals include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. Their approach to winemaking is to let the varietals, vineyards, and vintage direct their efforts. The four vineyards are located on: John Street (where the winery is), St. David’s Bench, Hunter Road, and Niagara Parkway.

So whether you're looking for a wine tasting, or looking for a place to dine while in Niagara-on-the-Lake, check out Two Sisters Vineyards and Winery. Be sure to check out their website for more information!
