St. Catharines Farmers' Market

St. Catharines, Ontario

Vaughan - July 12th, 2022 - On a Saturday morning on the last weekend of April, my mom and I were driving back from Buffalo, New York, after an overnight girls’ trip. The trip, of course, was dedicated to shopping - especially exciting for someone like my mom who hasn’t shopped much through the Covid era. However, we also took our time in Buffalo to try some new food, drink some nice wine, and veg at a lovely hotel!

On the way home, we decided to take advantage of the miles traveled through the Niagara Region by finding some fun stops along the way. One of these stops was the St. Catharines Farmers’ Market! We pulled up the Market Square, not knowing exactly what to expect from an April farmers’ market. However, when we did arrive, it made total sense. At Market Square was a beautiful glass building, in which we could see dozens of people buzzing around. We quickly parked and walked around the side of the building on to King Street, then entered the front doors into the wonderland of vendors.

Unfortunately for us, we got there towards the end of the market so some vendors were starting to pack up. However, there were several generous vendors who saw us walking in and handled our business like it was the first hour of the long Saturday market. We walked the entire perimeter and still got to see each of the vendors which included farmers, bakers, meat producers, honey makers, flower farmers, and other artisans - all from Niagara. We purchased cured sausages, pork chops, brussels sprouts, carrots, and a bushel of dried flowers for my living room.

Overall, this market is definitely on my recommendations list. Not only is St. Catharines a gorgeous place to visit, but there is so much to do and a lot of farms you could visit in addition to this market!

The St. Catharines Farmers’ Market is open year round, on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit the website if you need more info before your visit!
