Ottawa Street Farmers' Market

Hamilton, Ontario

Toronto - October 8, 2021 - On the final stop of my four stop tour on that gorgeous Saturday in August, I made my way to Hamilton’s Ottawa Street Shopping District. I was pretty tired after a long morning, but was excited to visit this last market (also, how lucky is Hamilton to have so many farmers markets!?).

Ottawa Street was bustling with local traffic (both on foot and by car), and the sidewalks were busy with shoppers and diners. Looking around for a place to park, I was happy to see an arrow pointing to a parking garage right off of the main road. To my delight, that parking lot was adjacent to my destination: the Ottawa Street Farmers’ Market. The market was quite small, but had a good mix of vendors featuring a great selection of fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables, as well as fish, meat and cheese, artisan breads and desserts, VQA wine, local raw honey, prepared foods, gourmet dog treats, and natural skin care products.

What makes this market so great is that all of its vendors are located within 100 km of the market, and all are dedicated to bringing the community the best and freshest products. Unlike many farmers’ markets, this market is also open year round, with several events throughout the year for families to participate in and enjoy while shopping for healthy, nourishing food.

If you are in the neighborhood, pay the market a visit! Before your visit, check out their website for more information about what's on!
