North York Farmers Market

Toronto, Ontario

Toronto - October 13, 2021 - I’ve come to a point now where I book appointments and get togethers around dates and times of farmers markets or farms that I want to visit. On this particular Thursday and August, I did the same for a doctor’s appointment. The clinic is located in North York, so I lined up my appointment with the North York Farmers Market that occurs Thursday’s from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Situated at Mel Lastman’s square, the North York Farmers Market is one of the most unique I had seen thus far. The square is grand and really has a presence at Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East, giving the market amazing exposure to the local community and workers who work at the office buildings lining Yonge Street. I arrived at the market around 10:00am, the sun was shining and the market was already bustling with people walking with the organized flow of the set up. Vendors are lined up in two rows on either side of the man-made river in the square, with a selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, maple syrup and flowers, delicious breads, pastries, cheeses and cured meats available for purchase.

The market is open for two more weeks, with the final day of this year on October 28th. Whether you live in the city or further north, this easily accessible market is a definite yes! Visit the market website for more information.
