Laura’s Farm Stand

Cookstown, Ontario

Vaughan - September 20th, 2022 - It was a gorgeous, sunny Thursday in August when I was in Cookstown for a meeting. I rarely take the Cookstown exit off of Highway 400, so of course I had to do a little exploring while I was in the area. I made a right on King Street North, and approached a white barn and wooden sign on my left hand side with the name ‘Laura’s Farm Stand’ on it. Without hesitation, I turned into the driveway.

Surrounding the white barn were two beautiful wooden carts filled with in-season produce such as squashes and root vegetables. Towards the back of the parking lot, there was a white tent with a very lovely young lady working the cash register. There were two other groups there at the same time as me, with smiles so bright, totally enveloped by the quaint yet wholesome atmosphere (as was I). Surrounding us were fields of sunflowers. After walking around and admiring the surroundings, I picked up some zucchinis (HUGE zucchinis, may I add) then made my way to the car. That’s when I bumped into Laura herself - the amazing 28 year old farmer behind it all - which was the cherry on top of my visit!

Laura's Farm Stand is a roadside stand that is open from the end of July to October with farm fresh produce for sale and flower fields to explore. The season begins with delicious mouth watering peaches and cream sweet corn. During August and into September they have thousands of blooming sunflowers. In the fall they have a massive display of pumpkins with so many varieties to pick from.

Laura’s Farm Stand is a must stop on the way to the cottage for some local farm fresh produce. This fall be sure to visit their pick your own pumpkin patch and corn maze. Visit their website to check out what else is going on at Laura’s this fall!
