Lakeview Farmers’ Market
Mississauga, Ontario

Vaughan - May 18th, 2022 - It was a Sunday afternoon in September when I drove south on the Queensway from my (then) home in Etobicoke, towards Lakeshore Park in Mississauga. Amidst this very lovely park, every Sunday throughout the summer, was the Lakeview Farmers’ Market.
Upon my arrival, the clouds were starting to roll in, but this didn’t deter me from my mission to check the market out. I parked in the designated spots right beside the market entrance to see others just like me, not afraid of a little rain. As I walked into the market, I was greeted by the market greeters, then began my course around the circular formation of the market. It then started to rain a bit, which actually ended up working in my advantage as some guests did leave. This gave me the opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with a lot of the vendors. Most notably: the crew from Chiamigos who I learned started their company from an idea /need they formed while camping, and a lovely woman from My Tea Brew who spoke about her personally sourced products.
The Lakeview Farmers’ Market features local, sustainable, organic, and artisanal products, which provide an important source of income for local farmers, growers, producers, and artisans. The third market season begins outdoors on June 5th, then on June 19th vendors will be featured indoors and in the surrounding outdoor area at the Small Arms Inspection Building, with an indoor and outdoor café, live entertainment from local buskers, artisan market days, community activities, and much more.
For more information about the market and the organizers, Creative Hub 1352, visit their website. Creative Hub 1352 also runs events such as their Artisan Market, and their Craft Beet Festival. I can’t wait to visit these as well!
