Georgian Hills Vineyard

Clarksburg, Ontario

Vaughan - February 22nd, 2022 - It may only be a Tuesday, but I am about to throw it back to the summer of 2020 when my girlfriends and I went on a little staycation (this was the first summer of Covid, so any getaway was MUCH appreciated). The main goal of our staycation was to sip on delicious wine and have heart-to-hearts until our hearts couldn’t heart anymore. And what better way to do this than to hit a few wineries on our way to our accommodations in Collingwood? Our first stop was at Georgian Hills Vineyard.

As we drove north on County Road 2 on that gorgeous afternoon in July, we were completely engulfed in rolling fields of greenery. A few minutes later, that greenery turned into grape vines and we knew we reached our destination. We turned left and drove down the long, dirt driveway until we reached the vineyard’s beautiful, wooden retail building. Being a weekday afternoon, we were the only car in the lot and used that opportunity to walk around and explore the grounds. Because of Covid, the seated wine tasting experience at the vineyard was not available, but it was clear that the setting for these tastings would have been absolutely gorgeous. After taking it in, we made our way into the retail store.

We were greeted by a lovely woman who walked us through the different varieties of wine available in the shop. She had a very deep understanding of both the wine and the company, and you could tell that she was passionate and committed to her role at the vineyard.

The original founding partners brought significant experience to the Georgian Hills Vineyards. John Ardiel, as a fourth generation apple grower, and Robert Ketchin with 40+ years of experience in wine and beverage marketing. In the past ten years they have built a team of young and experienced talent that have taken over the key roles of viticulture, wine making, wine marketing, wine education, retail operations and wine events. Recently, Greg Ardiel and Liam Ardiel became partners in the winery and cidery, both young, aspiring businessmen.

From the vineyards, to the winery, to the tasting room, Georgian Hills is committed to producing fine wines, distinct ciders and great experiences for their customers. I can’t wait to go back to have the entire experience. Before your visit, check out their website for more information.
