Toronto - May 7th, 2021 - I would be lying if I said I didn't have a spoonful of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water every morning (for the last four years, at least). I would also be lying if I said I didn't jump on the apple cider band wagon the second I heard it could aid in weight loss. Despite the pitiable reason I started, there are a ton of proven health benefits connected to consuming apple cider vinegar regularly. I could list these reasons for you, but you would be much better off asking the Geissbergers.

On a drive from Courtice to Bowmanville down Taunton Road (I took the scenic route), I made a sharp on Langmaid Road on accident. Making my way down the road, I spotted a bright yellow door accompanied by adorable outdoor decor from at least a kilometer away. Enticed by both the curb appeal and the word 'Cider' stated on the signage, I turned into the driveway of Geissberger Farmhouse Cider. I was greeted on the driveway of the beautiful farmhouse-style home by a man who I later got to know as Garry Geissberger, one of the owners and operaters of the business. Further intrigued by the man's kindness, I exited my car and stepped into the retail space.
Currently operating out of their family home, the Geissberger's retail space is set up in the front room, filled with sunlight and the smell of fresh apple cider. While inside, I was also greeted by Lorraine Geissberger, Garry's wife and business partner. The lovely couple walked me through the several variations of their available products, detailing the uniqueness of each one. Their selection ranged from sparkling apple cider, both hard and non-alcoholic, to apple cider vinegars.

The Geissbergers have been making apple cider since the 1970s, and Geissberger Farmhouse Cider has been serviced by generations of family members. I could sense the amount of love that has gone into each and every product they offer through just a short conversation with Garry and Lorraine. Overwhelmed by the choices they dispalyed, I decided to purchase a 750ml bottle of their apple cider vinegar. If you have purchased apple cider vinegar from a grocery store, you know it could break the bank. However, this large bottle, beautifully decorated in the Geissberger branding, only cost $8.
Though I loved the drive, I was pleased to hear that I could have more Geissberger apple cider (of any variety) delivered to my home in Toronto. The business ships locally for free, and could ship to the city for just $13.50. After tasting the vinegar I purchased, needless to say the flat shipping fee is a very small price to pay for the quality product you will receive.
A must try for anyone driving east of the city, and an obvious purchase for those who prefer to shop online. Though I am both of those people in this case, I will definitely be visiting the Geissberger's again as they move their retail space to their production farm - a beautiful red barn just down the road from their home. If the atmosphere is anything like their current retail space, on an even larger scale, it will be a staple for apple cider lovers and Instagram-enthusiasts alike.
