Downey’s Farm

Vaughan - October 27th, 2022 - Completely unplanned, I visited this next farm as I was driving home from my stop at Dixie Orchards on Labour Day Monday 2021. I initially saw one sign for Downey’s Farm Market and thought to myself “Ah! Yes. The infamous farm.” But then, to my surprise, there was ANOTHER sign on the opposite side of Heart Lake Road that ALSO said Downey’s. And with that, I was completely and utterly confused. So I had no choice but to make a stop when I circled back.
The Downey’s Farm that I am talking about today is the one I am certain you all know and love. And on that Monday, the love was evident as the farm was bustling with families. Downey's had all of the fun for families with a large variety of specialty pumpkins, gourds, mini pumpkins, ornamental corn, straw bales, corn stalks and of course their famous 'Sea of Orange' where you will find the perfect jack-o-lantern pumpkin. In addition to the Farmyard Play Area, they have a farm store full of great finds from fresh baked goods, Ontario fruits and vegetables, a large variety of jams and jellies, honey, maple syrup and preserves, giftware and locally sourced products. The farm store has a great selection of indoor Fall decor as well. Downey's Estate Winery is also located within the farm store offering 20 different fruit wines and hard ciders
Downey's Farm has been around for over 25 years. This 215 acre farm has been owned and operated by the Downey family since 1920. The farm is located on Heart Lake Road, North of Brampton, Ontario, and was founded by John & Ruth Downey.
