Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery
Bradford, Ontario

Vaughan - April 18th, 2022 - It was a Saturday morning in August when I headed north towards Bradford to hit a couple Harvest Hunter bucket list spots. My last spot but definitely not least was one of the two Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery locations.
This spot is definitely not a farm or market, but they do grow most of their own plants so to me, it counts as a Harvest Honourable. Bradford Greenhouses is your one-stop-shop to fulfill all of your home decor and garden needs. Their Barrie location is one of Ontario’s only indoor climate controlled nurseries, offering thousands of plant varieties including perennials, trees, shrubs, vines, or roses. However, if you are in the market to spruce up your annual flowerbeds, the Bradford location I visited boasts 10 acres of greenhouses where they grow and supply product to garden centres across Ontario. What they do not grow in-house, they shop across the entire world to bring the highest quality, and the best selection of products.
Bradford Greenhouses is a true Canadian success story. In August of 1956 Francis Ferragine immigrated to Canada from England with his family. For the next 4 years Francis and his family spent their time working as labourers in the Holland Marsh for local farmers. In 1961 Francis purchased property in Bradford and began growing a company. In 1975 Bradford Greenhouses opened a retail operation on Hwy 11 in Bradford and in 1993 Bradford Greenhouses open it’s flagship retail store in Barrie. Today Bradford Greenhouses Ltd is one of the largest greenhouse growers and retailers in central Ontario. In 1999 Francis Ferragine passed away due to illness but his legacy and his family continue to grow.
I will definitely be visiting to get my front porch ready for the summer months! I encourage you to do the same. Visit the Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery website for more information.
